WELCOME

The Orthodox Parish of Saint Jacob, Apostle of Florence makes its home in the church formerly to San Jacopo soprano of the Roman Catholic Church, which is located in the Borgo San Jacopo 34, 50125 Firenze.

The Church was offered to the Holy Metropolis of Italy and Malta by His Reverence Ennio Card Antonelli, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Florence, in May of 2006. On May 14th, 2006, the Church was consecrated during a ceremony presided upon by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople.

The Church is home to the regular services of Orthros and Vespers, as well as Holy Mass on Sundays, special Holidays and days dedicated to the memory of Saints. Attendance includes locally based Greeks and Greek students. Every Wednesday at 18:00 we offer the traditional service of deisis to the all-Holy Theotokos, Mary, and every Friday at 18:00 oration of catechism for youth still at school or University. Every Saturday, without fail, after vespers, our Church offers the opportunity to partake of the Mystery of Holy Confession.

The Parish Festival takes place each October 23, in the memory of the Holy Apostle, Martyr, and first Βishop of Jerusalem, Saint Jacob.
